Spiritualistically

April 1, 2009

It never fails.

Someone dares to dream. A vision is cast. Faith is challenged. The possibilities seem endlessly exciting.

And then it happens- the “r” word is unleashed. “Realistically speaking” gets loose and surrounds the dream.  The vision becomes more “manageable.”  The possibilities become more limited.

But there is a major problem here. God does not think realistically. He thinks “spiritualistically.” Consider:

  • Was it realistic for elderly Abraham and barren Sara to conceive a child?
  • Was it realistic for Moses to part the Red Sea?
  • Was it realistic for David to defeat Goliath?
  • Was it realistic for Daniel to survive the lion’s den?
  • Was it realistic for Jesus to be raised from the dead?
  • Was it realistic for a small group of believers to preach the gospel to the world within a generation?

When will we get it?

God can do more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20-21).
