Spiritualistically

It never fails.

Someone dares to dream. A vision is cast. Faith is challenged. The possibilities seem endlessly exciting.

And then it happens- the “r” word is unleashed. “Realistically speaking” gets loose and surrounds the dream.  The vision becomes more “manageable.”  The possibilities become more limited.

But there is a major problem here. God does not think realistically. He thinks “spiritualistically.” Consider:

  • Was it realistic for elderly Abraham and barren Sara to conceive a child?
  • Was it realistic for Moses to part the Red Sea?
  • Was it realistic for David to defeat Goliath?
  • Was it realistic for Daniel to survive the lion’s den?
  • Was it realistic for Jesus to be raised from the dead?
  • Was it realistic for a small group of believers to preach the gospel to the world within a generation?

When will we get it?

God can do more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20-21).

    Thanks for your comment Donna.

You are always a great encourager!

  3. Why are we always amazed when God answers our prayers or does such wonderful things for us? You are right, Danny, God can and does do much more than we can ever imagine! And for that I am so grateful!

    Great points, Danny.

“Realistic” is just a pessimist’s way of describing themselves! (I know – I’m married to one!)

But don’w we have to be “well grounded”, “balanced”, “fundamentally sound”??? Oh Yeah, I guess faith isn’t very grounded, is it? Just belief in something we can’t see. I sure need more faith and less dirt (ground) so I can fly.

Great stuff Danny! I really appreciate it. Somehow we have lost our eyes of faith–and we are blind because of it…

I have found in my life and continue to find in my life that God does more than I can ever ask or imagine. God is so good even when we are in pain and suffering. God can do all things. It helps when I focus on Him instead of my pain and suffering and hold on to the hope that he can do all things. Great post keep up the great work you do with your blog. It is one of my favs. I will read and comment when I am feeling well enjoy. God bless you and all you do in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thanks Danny. When will we learn that the “real” world includes God… there are things in the real world that seem very unrealistic to our limited comprehension of what all is going on around us. Thanks again!

Okay. I am no Bible Scholar but I do have an opinion. The reason, I think, people bash Christian rallys is all about Satan. Our government is so minority minded that they want to do right by every group except the majority. We, as Christians, know that Jesus was gently and loving. That is the message we have all sent out to the others. When Christians stage a rally, it is a statement that we want to fight for our rights, like any other group. This goes against the teaching of Jesus, according to what we have put out there. We can look at the legals of being a Christian, or we can do as Jesus taught: Love. No matter what we believe is right, as far as retribution, we will always appear in a negative light. After all, isn’t that what Satan wants?
