Happy, Happy New Year!

Henry Ward Beecher said:

Every man should be born again on the first day of January.  Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his fact to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.

On the whole- good advice.

I don’t know how you feel about New Year’s resolutions, but here are worthy ones for 2010:

  • Less complaints- more praise
  • Less fear- more faith
  • Less judgment- more grace
  • Less rush- more relationship
  • Less excuses- more service
  • Less convenience- more commitment
  • Less cynicism more trust
  • Less of self- more of Christ

I pray that 2010 will be a great and grand adventure in which we fully engage the power of God in order to allow him the opportunity to accomplish in us more than we can ask or imagine.

If so, it will truly be a Happy New Year!

May God’s grace continue to surround you and all your family, as well as all of His children. May the “New Year” be filled with an ever growing family of Christ.

I like those….and it seems like I struggle with all of those….have you been spying on me? (would that be cynicism or just good old sarcasm?)

HeartLight has a new feature named SpiritFire which began Jan 1, obviously centered on the Holy Spirit, which I’m finding very meaningful. Personally, I think we have downplayed the power of the HS or ignored it for fear of being thought charismatic and have unintentionally shortchanged generations of our fellowship.
